| 26-05-2009 | | | | Two strong consultancy firms within the fields of building construction and the environment are merging and thus positioning themselves amongst the biggest consultancy firms in Denmark with 600 employees and a turnover of half a billion Danish kroner. The new consultancy firm will provide integrated solutions within environment, energy and building construction.
Environmental consultants Orbicon and building construction consultants Leif Hansen Engineering are merging. They are both leading enterprises in their respective fields, and together will make up one of the biggest and most professionally capable consultancy firms in Denmark.
– We are now creating one enterprise with two powerful brands. Despite the current financial crisis, we expect that the merger between the two enterprises will provide the basis for increased growth and greater market share. Earlier this year, we announced that we intended to emerge from the financial and economic crisis as winners, and this merger is a major step in realising our strategy of using our financial robustness to develop and strengthen the group’s subsidiaries, says Orbicon’s Chairman of the Board, Ove Kloch, Managing Director, CEO, of Dalgasgroup/DDH.
In practice, the merger will be realised by Orbicon acquiring 100 percent of the shares in Leif Hansen Engineering.
Sustainable concepts Together, Orbicon and Leif Hansen Engineering have a solid portfolio of customers in both the public and private sectors at home and abroad. The demand for integrated solutions with regard to building construction, energy and environment is increasing, and it is an important market which the owners behind the new enterprise see as a sound, long-term investment.
With the merger, the new consultancy firm will create added value for customers by working with sustainable concepts in the area of tension between building construction and the environment, where focus will be applied to sustainable physical settings, reduction of CO2 emissions, safeguarding of cultural assets and natural amenities and resources for rural and urban areas. The group will provide consultancy services from twelve offices in Denmark and one in New York.
– On both the Danish and the international market there will be a great demand for responsible and competent consultancy services that can tackle major tasks concerning water, energy and infrastructure in the years ahead, as well as the major building works concerning the establishment of educational institutions and hospitals that are also on the way, says Lars Kragh, Managing Director of Leif Hansen Engineering.
Strategic alliance Orbicon and Leif Hansen Engineering have been partners for more than 3 years in a strategic alliance that has brought the enterprises closer together and has led to a number of tasks being solved jointly.
As one of the biggest consultancy firms in Denmark, the enterprise is now also approaching the top 100 consultancy firms in Europe.
– We are strengthening our competencies in terms of consultancy within both the environmental field and building construction, whilst achieving a size that enables us to perform even the most comprehensive tasks. In addition, we will introduce new business areas to the enterprise during the years ahead. This applies both in Denmark and abroad, where consultancy services concerning clean water and climate adaptation are in particular demand. We are thereby creating a strong platform for internationalisation and continuing the development of one of the country’s most attractive employers in the area, explains Jesper Nybo Andersen, Managing Director of Orbicon.
The senior management of the new enterprise is made up of Jesper Nybo Andersen and Lars Kragh.
