Supporting projects and activities in accordance with DDH’s objects clause
Member Commitee
The revision of the articles of association in 2009 included the establishment of a member committee under the auspices of the Executive Committee.
During 2009 the newly established member committee has devoted efforts to surveying the opportunities for supporting projects and activities in accordance with DDH’s objects clause. Following a recommendation from the member committee, in the autumn of 2009 the Executive Committee decided to support two such projects.
Naturvidenskabernes Hus
DKK 800,000 will be provided in financial support to Naturvidenskabernes Hus in Bjerringbro. The objective of Naturvidenskabernes Hus is to promote teaching in natural sciences and technology throughout the primary and secondary school and college system. The background for support is a pressing need – in DDH as well as in society as a whole – for considerably greater numbers of young people to enrol on courses of education in scientific and technical disciplines.
Mini-wetlands
In addition, DKK 4 million is being given to a project that is aimed at ensuring a targeted further development of a concept for so-called mini-wetlands. Mini-wetlands are small, compact facilities which are designed to clean water which is drained from agricultural land. Mini-wetlands offer considerable potential for being able to purge drainage water of nitrogen and thereby reduce the environmental impact on the aquatic environment of run-off and drainage from agricultural land.
An important aspect of the project is to document the effectiveness of
mini-wetlands in treating water. DDH is conducting the project in collaboration with its subsidiary Orbicon.

The member committee comprises the chairman of the Committee of Representatives, Peder Thomsen (right), its vice chairman, Jørgen Skeel (left), and a member of the Executive Committee, Aleksander Aagaard (in the middle), who is appointed by DDH’s Executive Committee.
